There’s always something to do in Edmonton. If your calendar is looking a little bare this September, here are just a few events and activities that you might enjoy.
Lionel Richie with Mariah Carey
Sept 1
Get two superstars for the price of one when you attend the latest stop on Lionel Richie’s “All The Hits” tour. Not only will you get to groove to all of his trademark songs, but you’ll also be treated to a special appearance from guest star Mariah Carey. Whether you’re a fan of soul music or old-school pop, this is a concert that you won’t want to miss.
Full Moon Canoe TourÂ
Sept 9
Available only a few times a year, the Full Moon Canoe Tour offers an evening adventure on Astotin Lake. You’ll paddle through the dark, sluicing waters under the beauty of a full moon, and you’ll see and hear all kinds of pelicans, beavers, muskrats, and cormorants. You might even get lucky and spot the silhouette of a bison standing majestically on the shore with the light of the moon shining down on him!
Edmonton International Film Festival
Sept 28 – Oct 7
You don’t have to be a movie star to enjoy the Edmonton International Film Festival. This popular, prestigious event attracts visitors from all around the world, but passes are available to the public just like any other festival in Edmonton. You’ll get to meet all kinds of up-and-coming directors and producers after watching their films on the big screen, and who knows, you might just rub shoulders with a future Oscar winner.
Joe Rogan ComedyÂ
Sept 8
Sharp-tongued and quick-witted, Joe Rogan has been making audiences fall out of their seats since he first picked up a microphone. Now he’s coming to the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on September 8 to try his humour on the Edmonton population. He can’t promise a family-friendly stand-up routine, but he can certainly deliver a night to remember.
ATB Tour of AlbertaÂ
Sept 1 – 4
With 100 cyclists all competing for one winner’s spot, the ATB Tour of Alberta is a great way to get your blood pumping this September. Watch the participants as they race up hills, across highways and through diversity courses; enjoy festival-like food and fun at each starting and ending point; volunteer at a booth to help raise money for good causes. The ATB Tour of Alberta is one of the largest cycling events in Canada, and you can be a part of the excitement, too.
Simple Plan ConcertÂ
Sept 11
Do you remember rocking out to Simple Plan when you were just a teenager trying to get through school? They’re hitting Edmonton as part of their 15th anniversary tour, so this is your chance to take a walk down memory lane with songs like “Perfect” and “I’d Do Anything.” Be at Union Hall at 7pm with your nails painted black and your hair spiked just so.
